[rcmiller 70205] I'm going to do bona-fide outreach teaching this summer,
a four-week course for K-16 teachers and pre-service education students on
contemporary China. My plan (not fully approved yet) is to work with a
grad student in curriculum and development familiar with China to
create a portfolio course, so by the end of the course each teacher has a
packet of lesson plans/course materials they have put together
themselves. This is a pilot for a course we hope to offer annually in
conjunction with MATC (in the person of Geoff Bradshaw, whom you may
have met--another anthro grad, did a dissertation with Jack Kugelmass on
the Grateful Dead and the Deadheads).
